Scheduled services will be entered in pencil, using the appropriate periodic service symbol.
Weekends and holidays may be marked out (Ink will be used to show maintenance service
accomplished.) The following symbols will be used to indicate the type of services scheduled:
"L"- lubrication
"W" - weekly service
"M"' - monthly (1 month) service
"Q" - quarterly (3 months) service
"S" - semiannual (6 months) service
"A" - annual (I year)(12 months) service
Not all the symbols apply to some items of NBC equipment The individual filling out the form
uses only those which do apply.
The intervals at which maintenance is to be performed are obtained from the applicable TM for
the particular equipment item. A typical table of periodic checks and services which would be
used in scheduling maintenance is shown in figure 4 on page 18.

Preparation and Use of a Status Chart for Unit NBC Equipment
Monitoring of maintenance and status of unit NBC equipment is an integral part of the unit NBC
defense program. There are various methods that can be employed to insure that you are aware
of equipment status. You may use an index card file which is small, easy to prepare, and
relatively easy to maintain. Another method is use of a suspense file to tell you when a certain
action is required. The suspense file by itself usually will not give you a total picture of all
equipment on hand nor the real status of that equipment. One of the most effective methods of
monitoring the maintenance and status of NBC equipment is use of a status chart. A status chart
