FIELD EXPEDIENT CLASS III REFUELING METHODS
A method available for the resupply of fog oil to mobile units is the tank and pump unit (TPU). The TPU can
carry 12 5-gallon cans of MOGAS, and either two 600-gallon tanks of diesel fuel or two 600-gallon tanks of fog
oil.
Fog oil can be transferred from 55-gallon drums to the TPU tanks or smoke vehicle tanks by using --
The 65 GPM pump.
The electric or gas driven TPU pump assembly.
Barrel handpump.
Gravity flow.
When resupplying stationary smoke lines, MOGAS and fog oil are delivered. Fog oil barrels are "dropped"
and 5-gallon cans of MOGAS are left at each position. This method requires the least amount of time. Fog oil
transfer can be used but it exposes the resupply squad for longer periods of time and increases their work load.
