(Nuclear) Reports. This will give the NBCE the information necessary to
estimate the time of burst and location of the attack. As additional
information becomes available, such as letter items E, J, L, and M, this
information should also be reported.
There is no set number of
subsequent NBC 1 (Nuclear) Reports that may be sent to the NBCE.
As
additional NBC 1 (Nuclear) Reports are received by the NBCE, the
information must be evaluated and utilized to determine the estimated
yield of the weapon, and what type of burst occurred (air, surface, or
subsurface). If sufficient information is not received from designated
reporting units to permit adequate evaluation of the attack, additional
information may be requested from nonreporting units in the vicinity of
the attack.
PART C: PREPARE AN NBC 2 (NUCLEAR) REPORT
An NBC 2 (Nuclear) Report is used for passing evaluated data of a nuclear
attack. It includes an attack location and an estimated yield of the
nuclear weapon. This data is needed to assess the impact of the burst on
the unit and tactical operations.
Adjacent agencies, such as Navy or
If so,
this report may be sent to provide basic data for their fallout
computations. Letter items A, D, F, H, and N may be repeated as often as
necessary to produce an NBC 2 (Nuclear) Report. If adequate data cannot
be obtained from designated reporting units to complete the NBC 2
(Nuclear) Report, the NBCE may consider contacting a nonreporting unit to
get the needed data.
This report is normally prepared by an NBC
Collection Center (NBCC) or the NBC Element (NBCE) at division and is
based on two or more NBC 1 (Nuclear) Reports.
