INTRODUCTION
All NBC weapons have an inherent residual effect that presents a hazard
to both forces engaged. Nuclear bursts create local contamination of an
area around ground zero and may produce radioactive fallout which can
contaminate thousands of square kilometers. The contamination effects of
nuclear weapons are a necessary consideration in preplanning operations
in which friendly forces may be required to occupy contaminated terrain.
