information and maintain RES charts; use RES and degrees of risk to establish OEG;
and compile, forward, and use radiation data.
STANDARD:
You will demonstrate competency of the task skills and knowledge by responding to

INTRODUCTION
The commander must know the total dose of nuclear radiation received by individuals in the units. This
will permit him to more effectively employ the command on the nuclear battlefield. You will learn how
to advise the commander in controlling the exposure of personnel to nuclear radiation, as well as how to
establish OEG for each operation using the degree-of-risk concept. The information you receive in this
lesson will prepare you to ensure that the total dose information is properly collected, reported, and used
by the commander. This information should help prevent personnel from being unknowingly
overexposed to nuclear radiation.
