New-equipment Services
When your organization receives a new M12A1 PDDA that is packed in a wooden
crate, you should notify direct support maintenance personnel.
The M12A1
PDDA is received on three skids in a dry and unserviced condition.
The
battery is not filled with electrolyte. The drive-belt tension is released,
the fuel tank interior surface is coated with OE-30 oil and is empty, and
the oil is drained from the gasoline engine. All pipe openings are sealed
with caps or with pressure-sensitive adhesive tape.
The gages on the
control panels are taped. The interior surfaces of the pump, tanks, and all
piping are coated with a preservative lubricant. If possible, the operating
crew will assist organizational-maintenance personnel in unloading and
servicing.
Remove the cover panels as necessary to inspect that the
equipment is satisfactory.
Use figure 5 to check that the tank unit is
satisfactory.
