contamination. At each check point, the team dismounts and conducts tests using chemical agent
detector paper and chemical agent detector kits. The survey leader reports the existence of
contamination at the pump station immediately. The results of the other points are held until all points
have been checked. The survey leader then reports the results by sending an NBC 1 (Chemical) Report.
The survey team marks the boundaries of the contaminated area. In the course of the survey, the team
notes the terrain features, type of vegetation, locations of clean areas, and likely existing and alternate
routes through and around the contamination. This information and other routine survey information is
reported upon the return of the team from the survey.
