5-8. ABC-M1A1 RADIAC Calculator. The ABC-M1A1 RADIAC calculator can be used to normalize
dose rates to a reference time only if the decay exponent n is 1.2. Normalization using the RADIAC
calculator is accomplished by aligning the dose rate on the outer disk with the time of the reading on the
intermediate scale. The H + 1 mark on the intermediate scale is then aligned with the dose rate at H + 1.
The same principle would apply if normalizing to H + 48. In Figure 5-3, a dose rate of 70 cGyph at H + 3
is normalized to 250 cGyph at H + 1.
