outside dose rate id 100 cGyph. The inside dose rate is calculated by use
of the transmission factor.
Find the dose rate inside the M113 Armored
Personnel Carrier.
ID = OD x TF = 100 x 0.3 = 30 cGyph.
If possible, routes through areas of lowest dose rates should be selected.
The use of tanks, armored vehicles, or sandbags on the floors and sides of
cargo trucks will provide shielding and reduce the total dose received by
personnel. Exposure may be minimized by staying for a short time, providing
shielding, and by avoiding the contaminated area.
The selection of these
actions depends upon the operational situation and the extent of
